El brau, que treia foc per la boca, recorria la illa de Creta destrossant-ho tot al seu pas. Van encarregar a Hèrcules que capturés al toro, i efectivament, després d'una intensa lluita, Hèrcules va vèncer al monstre i el va portar viu a Micenes.
